Questions About Grading

Grading is a hectic time for those involved in the process. Many hours and much hard work is put in to obtain the optimum result for all teams and all clubs.

  • How many grading games are there?
Up to six. In the past few seasons, there have been 5-6 grading games to start the season.

  • Do grading games count?
Yes they do, but ladder points awarded from one-sided grading games are adjusted.

  • How are the teams graded?
    There are several stages including:
Provisional grading by the Club before the season starts
Assessment of results of the grading games by Club representatives, particularly the Registrars
Feedback to the League about recommended changes
Final Grading by the league after the final grading game and all recommendations are considered.

  • What if I have concerns about the grading of my child's team?
In the vast majority of cases, the grading procedure works extremely well and by the end of grading, teams are fairly placed for the season.
